Rashford form ´up there with the best I´ve ever been´

Marcus Rashford feels his form is up there with the best he has ever produced after another excellent display in Manchester United s FA Cup victory over Everton.

After scoring in his previous four matches, Rashford looked a man full of confidence as he ran Everton s defence ragged on Friday, playing a part in all three goals as United saw off the Toffees 3-1.

He set up Antony for the opener just four minutes in, and although Conor Coady levelled for Everton, dazzling work from Rashford down the left wing forced the Everton defender to turn into his own net to put United 2-1 ahead in the second half.

Rashford then capped his brilliant performance by dispatching a penalty late on after Alejandro Garnacho was felled by Ben Godfrey, becoming the first United player s…

Werner has no regrets after choosing Chelsea over Liverpool

Timo Werner insists he has no regrets after choosing Chelsea over Liverpool as the two Premier League clubs prepare for the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp was said to have been a big admirer of Werner when the forward was as Stuttgart and the German was in charge of Borussia Dortmund in 2015.

Klopp subsequently left for Liverpool and was again a frontrunner trying to secure the services of Werner, who came into high demand from Premier League sides after impressing for RB Leipzig in 2020.

However, Chelsea acted the fastest to sign Werner in a £45million deal, beating the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United to the signing, while Liverpool opted for Wolves star Diogo Jota.

Everton 0-0 Tottenham: Conte held to goalless draw in first Spurs league game

Antonio Conte s first Premier League game in charge of Tottenham ended 0-0 in a frantic encounter with Everton at Goodison Park, with Rafael Benitez s side reduced to 10 men late on.

In a competitive clash, albeit one lacking in clear opportunities, Everton had a penalty overturned in the second half before Giovani Lo Celso hit the woodwork for Spurs.

Richarlison was awarded a spot-kick after Hugo Lloris lunged in, but referee Chris Kavanagh changed his decision after checking the pitchside monitor, and Everton fell foul of VAR again when Mason Holgate received his marching orders in stoppage time.

Spurs did not have enough time to make their numerical advantage count, however, as Conte – who enjoyed a good record against Everton in his time at Chelsea, winni…

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp pleased with Curtis Jones performance in Porto triumph (Video)

Liverpool smashed Porto at the Estadio Dragao in the Champions League on Tuesday evening by 1-5, with Mohamed Salah (twice), Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino (also twice) on target.

But the name that caught the most attention and praise was Curtis Jones. The 20-year-old midfielder put in a fantastic all-round performance, and manager Jurgen Klopp was obviously pleased.

There was a lot of things I liked.

Nagelsmann ´preparing for all scenarios´ with Mbappe in line for PSG return

Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann is preparing for all scenarios against Paris Saint-Germain, who will make a late decision on whether to field Kylian Mbappe.

France international Mbappe returned to training on the eve of Tuesday s Champions League last-16 first leg at the Parc des Princes.

The 24-year-old had initially been ruled out of the match after sustaining a hamstring injury against Montpellier on February 1 that was expected to sideline him for three weeks.

While Mbappe has been included in PSG s 22-man squad, Christophe Galtier said on Monday he will wait until the day of the game before making a decision on his involvement.

Lionel Messi is also not fully fit, having sat out Saturday s Ligue 1 defeat to Monaco, but Nagelsmann is prepari…

Rashford lands record-equalling Premier League Player of the Month award

Marcus Rashford has been named the Premier League player of the month for February, equalling Mohamed Salah s record for the most awards in a season.

The England forward had a near-perfect month for Manchester United, scoring five goals in four league matches, as Erik ten Hag s side took 10 points from a possible 12.

Rashford scored in victories against Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Leicester City, while also netting in a 2-2 draw against Leeds.

His Premier League tally for the season stands at 14 goals, behind only Ivan Toney (15), Harry Kane (18) and Erling Haaland (27) in the scoring charts.

Rashford also clinched the monthly awards for January and September, meaning he has matched Salah, who won three in 2017-18, for the most wins in a single campa…

Netherlands fail to qualify for Euro 2016

The Netherlands boss Danny Blind has failed to guide his team to Euro 2016

Next year’s European Championships was supposed to be easy to qualify for, due to the expansion of the finals to 24 nations.

That meant the top two teams from each group made it to the finals, with the third-place teams going into a play-off, and even the third placed team with the highest points making it to France.

Somehow one of the most highly-regarded teams in European football the Netherlands failed to even make third spot in what looked like a comfortable group.

The Oranje finished their qualification group with a 3-2 defeat at home against Czech Republic on Tuesday night. The defeat brought to an end a miserable qualification campaign.

Emery full of pride and satisfaction after haunting Arsenal en route to Villarreal´s first European

Villarreal head coach Unai Emery expressed his pride and satisfaction after exacting revenge on former club Arsenal as the Spanish side sensationally reached the Europa League final.

For the first time in Villarreal s history, they will contest a major European final following Thursday s goalless draw at Arsenal, which secured a 2-1 aggregate triumph.

Emery guided Arsenal to the Europa League final in 2019 before he was sacked by the Gunners in November that year, replaced by fellow Spaniard Mikel Arteta in London.

But Emery had the last laugh on Thursday after ending Villarreal s European drought – the Yellow Submarine had been eliminated in each of their previous four semi-finals, Europa League semis in 2004, 2011 and 2016 and the Champions League final four …

Zidane would have told me if he was leaving Madrid, says Kroos

Toni Kroos has denied claims Zinedine Zidane has already announced to the Real Madrid squad that he is stepping down as head coach.

Reports earlier this month suggested the Frenchman informed his players of his decision to quit ahead of the 2-2 league draw with Sevilla on May 9.

However, Kroos – who assisted two goals in that game but missed Madrid s final three matches after being rested and then contracting coronavirus – has labelled those rumours a blatant lie .

It s been said everywhere, even in Germany, that he has already announced his departure to the team, Kroos said on his Einfach mal Luppen podcast.

It s a blatant lie. Zizou and I have a good relationship. Without a doubt he would have told me.

I can t confirm it and I don t k…

Tuchel: James red card decision spoiled the game

Thomas Tuchel accepts referee Anthony Taylor s decision to send off Reece James in Chelsea s 1-1 draw with Liverpool, but says it spoiled the rest of the contest at Anfield.

Chelsea were a goal to the good in Saturday s tussle between the two Premier League title hopefuls through a Kai Havertz header when the game exploded in controversy.

Taylor was prompted by VAR to look at the pitchside monitor after Sadio Mane s shot cannoned off James leg on the goal-line and hit the wing-back s hand.

A penalty was awarded and subsequently converted by Mohamed Salah in first-half stoppage time, though Chelsea s players reacted furiously to the red card that was also issued to James.

Tuchel s side held on for the whole of the second half with 10 men, but the German c…
