Former Real Madrid midfielder Michel is the new Sevilla coach.
Michel will be in charge of the struggling La Liga club until the end of the season but he has been promised a long-term contract if he is able to secure Champions League football for the Andalusian outfit.
Sevilla moved quickly to appoint the 48-year-old Michel after sacking Marcelino on Monday.
Mallorca boss Joaquin Caparros had been the favourite to land the job, in what would have been his second spell at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, but it is now believed that Sevilla may go back for him in the summer if they do not retain the services of Michel.
Michel coached Getafe from 2009-11 but left last summer after the club did not offer him a new deal.

Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Marten de Roon from Atalanta for a fee believed to be in the region of €14million.
The Dutch midfielder has signed a contract with the newly promoted Premier League outfit until June 2020.
De Roon started his professional career with Sparta, before joining Heerenveen in 2012. He quickly became an important first-team member at the Abe Lenstra Stadium, earning himself a move to Atalanta after three years in Friesland.
The holding midfielder wasted no time in becoming a key figure at the Bergamo side, but they decided to cash in on De Roon after just one season in Serie A when Middlesbrough matched their valuation of the player.

Dani Alves has played down Barcelona s favourites tag for their UEFA Champions League final against Juventus and insists the team will show no complacency.
Barca remain on course for a treble this season having already won La Liga, reached the Copa del Rey final and beaten Bayern Munich in the Champions League last-four.
Many are expecting Luis Enrique s side to win Europe s premier competition for the first time since 2011 in Berlin on June 6.
But Juve proved they are up to the task by knocking out defending champions Real Madrid in the semis, and they are also on for a treble having won Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
I think we should be so careful against Juventus, Dani Alves said. It is a squad very well worked. They have amazing players and they go…
Jason Denayer and Dries Mertens were on target as Belgium stretched their winning streak to 11 games with a 2-0 victory at Denmark in their Nations League opener.
Denmark entered Saturday s Group A2 opener unbeaten in 15 matches since September 2018 but were undone at the Parken Stadium by goals in either half.
Denayer profited from some slack defending to convert Mertens corner inside nine minutes and the hosts, who will face Belgium in next year s rescheduled Euro 2020, never truly recovered.
Mertens made certain of the win 14 minutes from time as Belgium now beaten in just two of their last 43 matches moved level on points with England after the first round of fixtures.

King of the dark arts Emiliano Martinez said it was his destiny to be the penalty shootout hero as Aston Villa booked their spot in the semi-final of the Europa Conference League
The Argentina goalkeeper, who helped his country win the World Cup 18 months ago in similar circumstances, produced more heroics against Lille, saving spot-kicks from Nabil Bentaleb and Benjamin Andre to earn a 4-3 shootout win after the quarter-final had ended 3-3 on aggregate.
There was plenty of his trademark gamesmanship on show as he shushed the baiting French crowd, who had not forgotten what happened in Qatar, and then caused confusion by receiving a yellow card from the referee in the middle of the shootout, having already been booked in normal time.

Manchester United have confirmed new interim manager Ralf Rangnick s work permit is still processing, meaning he is likely to be absent for Thursday s match against Arsenal.
Following much speculation, United announced on Monday an agreement had been reached with Rangnick over a relationship that is set to span two and a half years.
Initially, Rangnick will take charge until the end of the season before moving into a consultancy role.
Rangnick has previously shaped German clubs such as Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig from top to bottom, with his future advisory position at Old Trafford suggesting United are planning an overhaul of their football operations, which have long appeared outdated compared to their rivals.
Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer s dismissal, his…
Everton started 2017 in superb fashion as three quick-fire second-half strikes secured a 3-0 Premier League victory over Ronald Koeman s former club Southampton.
Koeman s side were desperate to return to winning ways following their frustrating draw with lowly Hull City last time out, but it looked as though Claude Puel s men would take a share of the spoils at Goodison Park.
However, though Jay Rodriguez and Nathan Redmond had gone close for Southampton, the hosts took a deserved lead through substitute Enner Valencia s first Everton goal 73 minutes into a scrappy encounter.
And Southampton s resilience swiftly crumbled, Leighton Baines slotting home from the penalty spot before Romelu Lukaku hammered in a thunderous third late on.

The sale of Paul Pogba has completed Juventus and primed them for Champions League glory, according to Filippo Inzaghi.
Pogba signed for Juve on a free transfer in 2012 and after four successive Scudetti returned to Manchester United in August in a world record transfer worth up to €110million.
Though the France international departed, the Turin club bolstered their squad with the additions of Gonzalo Higuain, Miralem Pjanic, Dani Alves and Medhi Benatia in the transfer window.
Inzaghi believes Juve s movements in the market have put them in a better position to win the Champions League, having finished as runners-up in 2014-15 and exited at the last 16 stage in the previous campaign.
Asked who he felt would be in this year s final, Inzaghi told La…
Roma have rejected an offer from Chelsea for Edin Dzeko but are open to further discussions over the striker s future.
Sporting director Monchi confirmed the Giallorossi s stance on Wednesday following an approach from the Premier League champions.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with a double swoop for Dzeko and team-mate Emerson Palmieri as Antonio Conte seeks to strengthen his options.
But they will have to improve their bid if they are to prise 31-year-old Dzeko away from Stadio Olimpico.
Every club in the world would at least consider any offers that come in, Monchi told Mediaset Premium.
We are ready to listen, and then we will decide.
At the moment Dzeko is here and we are all happy. That means that what we have received so…
